Authenticated administrator escalation via unchecked role assignment
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Incorrect privilege assignment in Webkul Bagisto 2.4.9 allows remote authenticated users to gain full administrator access. UserController::update() passes validated role_id data to AdminRepository::update() without preventing self-promotion or limiting assigned permissions to the actor's own permissions. Exploitation requires a backend account with settings.users.edit permission; successful self-assignment exposes all admin-panel capabilities, including store configuration, payment credentials, and customer PII.
