Process-memory disclosure via WebCodecs out-of-bounds access
Published May 6, 2026 · Updated May 6, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Google Chrome WebCodecs before 148.0.7778.96 allows remote attackers to read process memory via a crafted video. The public advisory does not disclose which decoder operation reads beyond its buffer because the linked Chromium issue remains restricted. Exploitation requires a user to open or otherwise process an attacker-supplied video and is limited to reading Chrome process memory, with no reported data modification or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
