Sandboxed code execution via HLSL name collision
Published Aug 25, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in ANGLE in Google Chrome for Windows before 152.0.7977.65 allows remote attackers to execute code inside the sandbox. ANGLE's HLSL translator failed to distinguish colliding function-parameter and local-variable names, producing incorrect shader output that writes beyond a buffer boundary. Exploitation requires a user to load crafted HTML, and the resulting code execution remains confined to Chrome's sandbox absent a separate escape.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
