Origin-policy bypass via Web Authentication authorization
Published Aug 25, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Google Chrome before 152.0.7977.65 allows remote attackers to bypass web origin policy via crafted HTML. The Web Authentication implementation for passkeys and security keys permits a cross-origin operation that should be rejected, but Google has not disclosed the faulty check or code path. Exploitation requires a user to open attacker-controlled HTML; the published impact is limited to unauthorized cross-origin access, not code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
