Arbitrary file write via unchecked backup filename
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
Path traversal in Okta Access Gateway before 2026.9.1 allows remote authenticated users to write files outside the intended restore location. The restore function trusts the filename embedded in an encrypted backup payload and uses it as a filesystem write destination without path validation. Exploitation requires authenticated access to restore a crafted backup and can overwrite files reachable by the appliance service account.
