Code execution via string-evaluated regular expressions
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Eval injection in JQ::Lite before 2.51 allows attackers to execute arbitrary Perl code through crafted query regular expressions. The _build_regex routine compiles patterns for test(), match(), and select() regex conditions as source text using string eval, allowing embedded Perl code blocks to execute. Exploitation requires control of a query or text inserted into its regex pattern, and code runs within the calling process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
