Private attachment disclosure via date-gated ownership checks
Published Oct 14, 2026 · Updated Oct 14, 2026
Gitea 1.26.0 through 1.27.2 attachment authorization lets remote attackers read private files through public repository URLs. In routers/web/repo/attachment.go, attachments created before January 16, 2026 skip the ownership guard, so permissions are evaluated against the URL's repository instead of the attachment's owner. Anonymous access requires a known random attachment UUID and a public repository; disclosure covers issue and pull request attachments and release assets.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
