Server metadata modification via incorrect permission check
Published Oct 5, 2026 · Updated Oct 5, 2026
Improper authorization in Rapid7 Velociraptor before 0.77.3 allows remote authenticated users to alter server metadata via SetClientMetadata. The server's SetClientMetadata operation checks the permission for labeling clients instead of requiring server-administrator authority before writing server metadata. An account granted LABEL_CLIENT can therefore change site-wide metadata that should remain under server-administrator control; the record does not establish a broader downstream impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
