WebSocket dispatch hijacking via unfiltered transport headers

Published Aug 24, 2026 · Updated Aug 24, 2026

Improper input validation in Apache Camel Undertow allows remote attackers to redirect WebSocket messages via crafted HTTP headers. UndertowEndpoint replaces the binding's UndertowHeaderFilterStrategy with the base HTTP strategy, so websocket-prefixed dispatch headers enter the Exchange unfiltered. Endpoint-configured routes using the default binding are exposed, while Rest DSL consumers and routes with an explicit undertow filter are not affected.
