Authenticated PCRF crash via undersized address AVP
Published Aug 24, 2026 · Updated Aug 24, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Open5GS 2.8.0 allows remote authenticated users to crash the PCRF with a malformed Rx AA-Request. The pcrf_rx_aar_cb function passes a short Framed-IP-Address AVP buffer to a hash lookup that always reads a four-byte IPv4 key. Reachability requires a Diameter connection as an Rx peer; one malformed request reads past the AVP buffer and crashes the PCRF process.
