Remote service interruption via attribute-certificate memory leaks
Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 11, 2026
Memory leaks in strongSwan 4.2.0 through 6.0.7 allow remote attackers to exhaust daemon memory via crafted IKEv2 CERT payloads. The parser overwrites a prior AuthorityKeyIdentifier without freeing it; in 5.1.3 and later, parse_directoryName() also abandons GeneralName entries after the second. The x509 plugin is built and loaded by default, and enough malicious attribute certificates cause progressive memory exhaustion and service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
