Arbitrary code execution via unvalidated module attributes
Published Sep 19, 2026 · Updated Sep 19, 2026
Unsafe reflection in DBD::DBM in DBI before 1.653 allows attackers to execute arbitrary Perl code through crafted connect attributes. DBD::DBM passes dbm_type and dbm_mldbm values to require without validating module-name syntax, so path-shaped values select and run files. Exploitation requires a less-trusted caller to control either attribute, directly or through a DSN or forwarded proxy connection.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
