Authenticated code execution via wgagent buffer overflow
Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Buffer overflow in WatchGuard Fireware OS wgagent before 12.12.2, 12.5.20, or 2026.2.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The Management Web UI's wgagent process writes crafted network input beyond an intended buffer, corrupting memory and causing a crash or arbitrary code execution. A network-reachable administrator session is required; exploitation interrupts the firewall or runs code with the vulnerable process's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=12.0 <12.12.2
- Affected versionversion=12.0 <12.5.20
