Administrator takeover via forged Mailgun API requests
Published Aug 22, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026
SSRF in Mailgun for WordPress 2.2.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to send authenticated Mailgun API requests via crafted list addresses. The add_list() AJAX handler treats attacker-controlled keys from $_POST['addresses'] as API paths after only sanitize_text_field(), permitting traversal to other endpoints. No WordPress login is required, but the plugin must hold a usable Mailgun API key; crafted requests can create forwarding routes and intercept password-reset email for administrator takeover.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
