CVE-2026-77988Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated root command execution via unsanitized NVRAM values

Published Aug 22, 2026 · Updated Aug 22, 2026

Command injection in TRENDnet TEW-823DRU 1.1.02b01 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root through the router CLI. The bin/cli tool retrieves attacker-controlled configuration values with nvram_get and interpolates them without validation or escaping into shell commands passed to _system or popen. Exploitation requires access to the Telnet or SSH CLI and permits command execution with the router service's root privileges.
