Unauthenticated error disclosure via fail-open handler

Published Sep 1, 2026 · Updated Sep 1, 2026

Information disclosure in Ash Framework AshTypescript 0.8.0 through 0.17.3 allows remote attackers to receive unredacted RPC errors. The apply_error_handler/3 rescue clause returns the original pre-handler error map when a pattern-matching handler raises, exposing secrets in vars. Exploitation requires an HTTP-exposed RPC endpoint, a custom error_handler, and a crafted request that produces an unmatched error shape.
