Process crash via malformed Prefetch file
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Out-of-bounds access in Rapid7 Velociraptor before 0.77.3 allows attackers to crash the process via a malformed Prefetch file. The bundled Prefetch library fails to enforce a buffer boundary while parsing crafted file structures; the exact field and function are undisclosed. The process must parse an attacker-supplied Prefetch file, and the reported consequence is a crash without disclosed code execution or data exposure.
