Process crash via unchecked WPG palette bounds
Published Aug 26, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in GNOME Dia 0.98+git20260221-1 allows attackers to crash the process by inducing a user to open a crafted WPG file. The WPG_COLORMAP handler passes an untrusted start index and color count to fread without ensuring that the write remains within its fixed 256-entry heap palette. User interaction is required; a crash is demonstrated, while code execution depends on usable heap-layout primitives and has not been demonstrated.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
