CVE-2026-77649Known exploitationNetwork attack vector

Build-time code execution via malicious dependency

Published Aug 21, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026

Embedded malicious code in David Roundy's internment 0.8.7 allows remote attackers to execute code during a dependent project's build. Its injected proc-macro1 dependency runs build.rs, disables TLS certificate validation, downloads a platform payload, and launches it detached. Compilation alone triggers execution with the build user's privileges; the library API need not be called, and the payload can establish command-and-control access.
