Unauthenticated service interruption via unbounded frame allocation
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Memory exhaustion in Datadog Vector 0.15.0 through 0.56.x allows remote attackers to interrupt log ingestion via a crafted compressed frame. The logstash source reads a 32-bit frame length from the network and allocates a buffer of that declared size without enforcing an upper bound or receiving the claimed bytes. Exploitation requires network access to an enabled logstash listener; the resulting memory pressure aborts Vector or invokes the host OOM killer, halting shared-pipeline ingestion.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
