Reflected XSS via unescaped query debug output
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Reflected XSS in Semantic MediaWiki before 7.2.0 allows remote attackers to execute script in a visitor's browser via Special:Ask. SMW\Query\DebugFormatter sends re-serialized query strings, SQL, and PostgreSQL EXPLAIN text to OutputPage::addHTML without HTML-context encoding. Exploitation requires a victim to open a crafted anonymous request whose query condition targets a text/blob property, including built-in _txt properties.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
