Authenticated code execution via writable configuration overlay
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Code injection in OpenC3 COSMOS 5.1.0 through 7.2.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through configuration APIs. The targets_modified overlay accepts non-admin writes, then ConfigParser renders files as ERB, GenericConversion evaluates Ruby or Python, and suite analysis requires procedure files. Valid authentication and lower-tier system_set, system, script_edit, or script_view permissions are sufficient, exposing service credentials and command, telemetry, and configuration data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
