Authenticated OS command injection via pypi_url setting
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
OS command injection in OpenC3 COSMOS 5.12.0 and later before 7.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to run commands through pypi_url. OpenC3::PluginModel.install_phase2 interpolates the writable setting into a shell command while installing a plugin with Python dependency metadata, causing shell metacharacters to execute as the service user. Any authenticated Core user can reach the required operations; Enterprise access requires an administrator, and executed commands can access Redis and bucket credentials.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
