File read/write via unrestricted external access
Published Oct 14, 2026 · Updated Oct 14, 2026
File access in Redash's DuckDB runner before 26.9.0 allows remote authenticated users to read and write files via SQL queries. In redash/query_runner/duckdb.py, _connect() leaves enable_external_access enabled by default, allowing submitted queries to invoke native filesystem operations. Exploitation requires query access to an administrator-created DuckDB data source and is bounded by Redash process permissions; exposed application secrets enable forged sessions and authentication bypass.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
