Vault read/write access via unchecked HTTP request origins
Published Oct 12, 2026 · Updated Oct 12, 2026
Origin validation failure in The-40-Thieves obsidian-tc before 1.3.1 allows remote attackers to read and write vault data via a malicious web page. The Streamable HTTP /mcp handler accepts untrusted Host and Origin headers without validation or DNS-rebinding protection, assigning requests the http-local caller with wildcard scopes. Exploitation requires the HTTP transport running with auth.mode set to none and a user visiting the malicious page; access extends to vault data exposed by that server.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
