Server-local file exfiltration via unrestricted attachment paths
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Path traversal in MCP Atlassian before 0.22.0 allows remote attackers to read and exfiltrate server-local files through attachment uploads. The Confluence and Jira upload handlers pass caller-controlled file_path values to open operations without constraining resolved paths to the workspace. An MCP caller able to invoke attachment tools can upload any file readable by the server process; default streamable-http deployments expose the tools without built-in authentication.
