Adjacent routing-service interruption via malformed PIM messages
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026
Improper input validation in Arista EOS allows network-adjacent attackers to crash the Pimsm agent with malformed PIM messages. The Pimsm agent fails to reject malformed PIM Sparse Mode messages and terminates while processing them. Exposure requires PIM Sparse Mode and active MLAG on an affected platform; repeated messages force continuous restarts and sustain a routing-service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
