Account takeover via unchecked customer email updates
Published Oct 10, 2026 · Updated Oct 10, 2026
Account takeover in FooSales Point of Sale (POS) for WooCommerce allows remote authenticated users to gain administrator access via the API. In 1.43.0 and earlier, the create_update_customer REST endpoint updates arbitrary users' email addresses without properly validating the caller's authority over the target account. FooSales Cashier-level access or higher permits changing an administrator's email and using password reset to take over that account.
