Unauthenticated resource exhaustion via bulk-processing endpoints
Published May 4, 2026 · Updated May 4, 2026
Missing authentication in Calibre-Web Automated 4.0.0 through 4.0.6 allows remote attackers to exhaust server resources via admin endpoints. The cwa-convert-library-start and cwa-epub-fixer-start GET handlers launch whole-library conversion or EPUB rewriting without login or admin checks. A single unauthenticated request can drive CPU and disk I/O and rapidly consume storage, while status and log endpoints expose operation details.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
