Authenticated code execution via unsafe model-state deserialization
Published May 3, 2026 · Updated May 3, 2026
Unsafe deserialization in MindsDB 26.01 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code through a malicious BYOM model state. ModelWrapperUnsafe passes stored, attacker-influenced model state directly to pickle.loads, which invokes a crafted object's reduce method. Exploitation requires access to upload an in-house BYOM handler, create and train its model, and trigger prediction in the server process.
