Client crash via null login URL dereference
Published May 3, 2026 · Updated May 3, 2026
Null pointer dereference in Telegram Desktop 6.7.0 through 6.7.5 allows remote attackers to crash the client through a Bot API login URL. RequestButton in Telegram/SourceFiles/boxes/url_auth_box.cpp dereferences null state reached when a login_url button is opened without connected websites. The targeted user must click the button; Telegram disputes security impact because the result is a one-time crash and relaunch restores service.
