Service crash via mixed-class ForwardOpen path
Published Aug 20, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in the ForwardOpen handler in liftoff-sr CIPster 1802525 allows remote attackers to crash the server via a crafted request. ConnectionData::ResolveInstances accepts mixed-class application paths, and ConnectionData::CorrectSizes then treats attribute 3 from non-Assembly objects such as Identity or Ethernet Link as a ByteBuf* and calls size() on incompatible data. The issue is reachable over the normal explicit TCP messaging path without authentication; current public evidence shows a reliable server abort and availability impact, not data write or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
