Crash via unchecked ATT handle indexing
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Wireshark BT ATT dissection in 4.6.0 through 4.6.7 and 4.4.0 through 4.4.17 lets attackers crash Wireshark via crafted input. In packet-btatt.c, the Read Multiple Variable Response parser indexes a handle array copied from the paired request without checking that the response contains no more tuples than the original handle count, so parsing can read past the end of that array. Reachability requires either malformed Bluetooth traffic on a captured wire or a crafted capture file opened for analysis, and the published impact is limited to process crash and service interrupt.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=4.4.0 <4.4.18
- Affected versionversion=4.6.0 <4.6.8
