Temporary Premium access via unchecked postMessage origin
Published May 3, 2026 · Updated May 3, 2026
Improper access control in eyeo Adblock Plus 4.36.0 through 4.36.2 for Chrome allows attackers to obtain temporary Premium access. The premium.preload.js message handler accepts a payment_success postMessage without validating its origin, and the background activation path stores an unbound userId before requesting a license. Code running on an Adblock Plus account page can trigger a trial license lasting about 24 hours; the next server check rejects it without a subscription.
