Unauthenticated dataset modification via missing login check
Published May 3, 2026 · Updated May 3, 2026
Improper authorization in COCO Annotator 0.11.0 and 0.11.1 allows remote attackers to modify any dataset through an HTTP POST request. The DatasetId POST handler lacks the login_required decorator, while AnonymousUser exposes every DatasetModel and passes edit checks. No account, session, or user interaction is required; one network request can alter categories and default annotation metadata in the chosen dataset.
