Unauthenticated service crash via system-service buffer overflow
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Buffer overflow in an ECOS system service in HPE EdgeConnect SD-WAN Gateways allows remote attackers on an adjacent network to crash the service. HPE has not disclosed the service, input path, or buffer operation that mishandles untrusted data, so the precise overflow mechanism remains undisclosed. Exploitation requires no authentication or user interaction but does require adjacent-network access and high attack complexity; a successful attempt temporarily interrupts gateway network operations.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=9.4.0.0 <=9.4.8.2
- Affected versionversion=9.5.0.0 <=9.5.8.1
- Affected versionversion=9.6.0.0 <=9.6.3.1
- Affected versionversion=9.7.0.0 <=9.7.0.0
