Code execution via forced remote tokenizer trust
Published May 2, 2026 · Updated May 2, 2026
Code injection in SGLang 0.5.0 through 0.5.9 allows context-dependent attackers to execute Python through a malicious tokenizer repository. The get_tokenizer function silently retries AutoTokenizer.from_pretrained with trust_remote_code=True after a generic TokenizersBackend result, overriding the caller’s explicit false setting. Exploitation requires an operator or configured pipeline to launch SGLang with an attacker-controlled model path; the tokenizer code then runs with the SGLang process authority.
