Memory corruption via PPPoE password overflow
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in wan.cgi in TRENDnet TEW-755AP 20260702 and earlier allows attackers to corrupt memory via the PPPoE password field. The ssi handler reads the cameo.wan.wan_pppoe_password_00 POST parameter and writes it into a fixed-size stack buffer with sprintf, as shown in the referenced technical report and proof-of-concept. Reachability is over the web management interface, and the published CVSS vectors require valid credentials; the demonstrated outcome is memory corruption and likely service interruption from stack overwrite.
