Command execution via Currenttime shell injection
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026
Command injection in /cgi-bin/admin/set_time.cgi in TRENDnet TV-IP751WIC 11.03.03 allows attackers to execute commands via Currenttime. The alphapd time-setting handler reads Currenttime and related time fields from HTTP requests and passes them to doSystem() without neutralizing shell metacharacters, as reflected in the public report's websGetVar-to-doSystem path and PoC request. In ordinary deployments, reachability is bounded by exposure of the administrative CGI or setup path; successful exploitation can run device commands such as enabling a telnet backdoor.
