Command execution via ping ipaddr injection
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Command injection in /cgi-bin/ping.cgi in TRENDnet TEW-821DAP 2.2.01b05 allows remote attackers to execute OS commands via ipaddr. The CGI handler passes the ipaddr value into popen/system without neutralizing shell metacharacters, so a crafted diagnostic request reaches the shell instead of a literal ping target. Reachability is remote; VulDB's published scoring treats the flaw as low-privileged, and the referenced GitHub package includes a public proof of concept for the endpoint.
