Administrator takeover via unchecked user import
Published Sep 19, 2026 · Updated Sep 19, 2026
Privilege escalation in VJInfotech WP Import Export Lite before 3.9.35 allows remote authenticated users to create administrator accounts. The user-import workflow accepts account credentials and role assignments without checking whether the importer may create or modify users or assign roles. A delegated plugin import permission is sufficient to create a new administrator or overwrite the credentials and role of an existing account, including an administrator.
