Unauthenticated account takeover via forged customer webhook
Published Jul 11, 2026 · Updated Jul 11, 2026
Privilege escalation in SureCart 4.2.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over linked WordPress accounts via forged webhooks. The customer.updated webhook handler trusts a supplied customer ID and email during profile synchronization, overwriting the linked WordPress user’s email without validating identity. The attacker must know a SureCart customer ID, and the target WordPress account must be linked to that customer; the email change enables a password reset, including for linked administrators.
