Authenticated media deletion via unchecked attachment ownership
Published May 28, 2026 · Updated May 28, 2026
IDOR in WPEverest User Registration & Membership 5.1.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to delete arbitrary media attachments. The frontend profile-picture workflow accepts the user-controlled profile-pic-url attachment ID, stores it, and later deletes the referenced WordPress attachment without verifying ownership. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and deletion can permanently remove media uploaded by any site user, including administrators.
