Root command execution via email-borne SQL injection
Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026
SQL injection in Cisco Secure Email allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands as root through a crafted email message. The email parser insufficiently validates message content before using embedded SQL statements, allowing attacker-controlled input to reach database execution. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful exploitation runs operating-system commands with root privileges on the appliance.
