Authenticated command execution via unescaped outputPath
Published May 2, 2026 · Updated May 2, 2026
OS command injection in website-downloader 0.1.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through the MCP interface. The download_website handler joins outputPath into a wget command string and passes it to child_process.exec without escaping or argument separation. The user must be able to invoke the MCP tool; injected shell metacharacters run with the server process's privileges and can read or modify accessible data or interrupt the service.
