Deserialization of untrusted data in Splunk MCP Server App before 1.2.1 allows remote authenticated users with the admin role to execute OS commands. The credential management component deserializes stored data without validating that the serialized content is the expected type before reconstructing the object. Exploitation requires network access to the Splunk instance and an account with the built-in admin role, yielding arbitrary command execution on the underlying host.
