Improper certificate validation in Splunk Connect for Kafka before 2.2.7 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to read or alter HTTP Event Collector traffic. In the Kerberos-authenticated HTTP Event Collector path, the connector builds its HTTP client without applying the configured certificate-validation settings, so the remote endpoint is not verified as configured. Exposure requires Kerberos authentication to Splunk Enterprise HEC and an attacker positioned on the network path; the impact is limited to data confidentiality and integrity in transit, with no published code-execution path.
