Arbitrary file writes via unchecked archive extraction
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026
Path traversal in Splunk SOAR before 8.6.0 allows remote authenticated users with the Administrator role to write outside its install directory. The Universal Forwarder credentials-package workflow extracts archive members without verifying that their resolved paths remain under the intended destination. Administrator access and use of the installer are required, and successful exploitation writes attacker-controlled files beyond that directory.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
