CVE-2026-76354Network attack vector

File alteration via NUL byte path traversal

Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026

Path traversal in Splunk Enterprise before 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, and 9.4.14 allows remote authenticated users to alter files via a REST API request. Search Head Clustering bundle replication accepts an attacker-controlled bundle filename, fails to neutralize NUL bytes, and uses the resulting truncated name when constructing the member bundle path on a cluster node. Exploitation requires a non-admin, non-power account and a non-captain search head cluster member, and the effect is limited to files writable by the Splunk Enterprise service account.
