Admin-context SPL execution via shared dataset
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Splunk Enterprise before 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, and 9.4.14 lets remote authenticated users run admin-context SPL. The Table Editor accepts risky SPL saved in a shared dataset and then skips risky-command safeguards when its Initial Data field-summary search replays that content. Exploitation requires a user with the power role to phish an admin into opening the dataset in Splunk Web; the resulting search can expose the admin's accessible data and modify lookup files.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=10.0 <10.0.9
- Affected versionversion=10.2 <10.2.6
